The retail performance of vegetables for the year ending March 2025 shows strong value growth across a number of key categories. Beans led with a 38% increase in value, followed by cucumbers (24%) and sweet potatoes (22%). Sweet corn and potatoes also performed well, with value growth of 21% and 11% respectively. In contrast, cauliflower experienced the largest value decline at 10%, while capsicums and head lettuce also recorded falls of 5% and 2%.
Volume growth was strongest in sweet corn (17%), broccoli (17%), and beans (14%), indicating increased consumer demand and stronger supply. Only four categories experienced a drop in volume—zucchinis (-3%), head lettuce (-5%), celery (-9%), and Asian vegetables, which declined the most at -14%.

Most vegetable categories showed gains in value, supported by rising prices, stronger volumes, or a combination of both. Whether your focus is on scaling up production in high-growth categories or responding to lagging performance, our insights help you make more informed and timely decisions.
