The December quarter of 2024 recorded a 7% decrease in the average wholesale price of total fruits, with the market easing from $4.06 per kilogram to $3.80 per kilogram compared to the same period last year.
Despite the overall decline, some categories saw impressive gains. Avocados more than doubling in value from $2.20 per kilogram to $4.70 per kilogram. Pineapples followed, increasing from $1.70 to $2.30 per kilogram, alongside rockmelons which rose from $1.50 to $1.80 per kilogram.
Meanwhile, notable declines were recorded for some fruits, particularly mandarins, mangoes, and raspberries.
These price movements reflect seasonal changes, variable supply conditions, and shifting consumer buying patterns in what remains a dynamic fresh produce market.
