The December quarter of 2024 has seen continued strength in the vegetable wholesale market, with the overall price reaching $2.56 per kilogram, up from $2.03 per kilogram in the same period last year. This represents a steady year-on-year increase of 26%, reflecting evolving supply conditions and market adjustments.

A diverse range of vegetables contributed to this market movement, with notable shifts across different categories. Vegetables such as sweet potatoes (66%), cabbages (59%), leeks (46%), capsicums (37%), and zucchinis (32%) showed significant growth.

Some vegetables experienced little to no growth or price declines, including asparagus (-14%), mushrooms (-5%), pumpkins (-4%), and tomatoes (-3%). Beetroots had a slight increase of 2%, making them one of the most stable vegetable categories in terms of pricing.
