Fruit Retail Performance – Year Ending December 2024

Selective growth across the fruit category, with standout performance from kiwifruit, watermelons, and oranges driving both value and volume increases.

The retail performance of fruits for the year ending December 2024 shows strong gains in specific categories, across both value and volume. Kiwifruit led value growth, up 45%, followed by watermelons at 35%, oranges at 22%, mandarins at 19%, and avocados at 14%. Volume growth was also strongest in kiwifruit at 47%, watermelons at 38%, mangoes at 22%, oranges at 13%, and apples at 8%.

Several categories saw value declines, led by plums -8%, apples -6%, and nectarines -3%. Volume declines were seen in exotic fruits -13%, muskmelon -13%, limes -12%, pears -9%, and blueberries -7%. These declines suggest weaker demand or reduced availability.
