South Korea has emerged as a standout market for Australian vegetable exports, increasing by 88% over the past five years.

The Australian vegetable export market has experienced a modest decline in total volumes over the last five years. Between 2020 and 2024, exports decreased by 8.4%, falling from 210,602 tonnes to 193,017 tonnes. Despite this overall downturn, South Korea has emerged as a standout market, recording significant and consistent growth.

Total Australian vegetable exports peaked at 215,134 tonnes in 2021 before gradually declining to 184,038 tonnes in 2023. A partial recovery was seen in 2024, with volumes rising to 193,017 tonnes. However, overall performance remains below the levels observed at the beginning of the period.

In contrast to the broader trend, South Korea’s imports of Australian vegetables grew steadily. Exports to South Korea rose from 13,466 tonnes in 2020 to 25,322 tonnes in 2024, representing an 88% increase over the five years. This growth has been particularly strong in recent years, with exports jumping by 23% from 20,505 tonnes in 2023 to 25,322 tonnes in 2024.
